Eclipse Phase

About eclipse-phase
English (USA)

Eclipse Phase is a science fiction horror and post-apocalyptic role-playing game with a solar-system wide setting in a posthuman future, wth three main political factions: capitalist republics in the inner system, exclusive military conservative on the moons of Jupiter, and social-democratic and collectivist anarchism in the outer systems.

The setting is post-apocalyptic as there has been recently been a devastating war with rogue military AIs. It is a conspiracy setting because of the extensive intrigues between the various political factions. It is a horror setting with some of the unexpected ill-effects of posthumanism and several hints of alien encounters.

"An "eclipse phase" is the period of time between when a cell is infected by a virus and when the virus appears within the cell and transforms it. During this period, the cell does not appear to be infected, but it is."

In 2010, it won the 36th Annual Origins award for Best Roleplaying Game. It also won three 2010 ENnie awards: Gold for Best Writing, Silver for Best Cover Art, and Silver for Product of the Year.
