Subject: RQ Discussions 12 Distribution Date: May 15, 1991 ====================================================================== From: Robert McArthur Subject: Eurmal Do you know of any information (all in one place!) on Eurmal? A cult write-up like in Cults of Prax would be nicest. All the references to him are scattered all over the place as far as I know... [I didn't know of any, so...] If you think that putting a query for further information in a discussion may bear fruit I would be very happy. I am developing a writeup myself, since no official ones seem to exist, but any aid would be gratefully received. Robert ====================================================================== From: nrobinso@sirius.UVic.CA (Neil Robinson) Subject: Simple Question [Note: This might have been meant to be a personal note, but it works as a discussion article anyway and I doubt Neil will object.] I was impressed with both, but found it interesting that both modules had a way for characters to get any stat (including size and int) increased. Similarly, Trollpak and Into the Troll Realms (?) have modules where size and int can be increased. From this I'm assuming that getting your SIZ and INT increased are unlikely but definately possible. However, it seems that the RQ modules all seem to let characters increase their stats. Isn't this a little overkill? I'm currently making it very difficult for a character to get a stat increase in SIZ or INT. Neil ====================================================================== From: harris@egrlab.ac.duke.edu (George Harris) Subject: RQDigest contribution This is a variant on Loren Miller's point-based RQ character generation system. I've decreased the net value of each point by a factor of 8, & set the 0-cost for characteristics to 0. The rationale for the first was I felt that to wide a range of skill values were represented by the same point cost, & for the second sheer bloody-mindedness on my part. I've also added points costs for knowing divine & spirit magic as well as for holding cult positions & becoming a shaman or sorceror & creating a fetch or familiar. Sorcery spell skills should be 10 points + cost to buy the skill to the desired level. To buy skills up you subtract the point value for the base skill (including mod- ifier) from the desired level of the skill. A starting character from the random roll-up method would cost about 1500 points, while a tough initiate might cost 3000 points and a powerful runelord might cost 4500-5000 points. The latest I've heard is: Nomad Gods: reply from COAG is to the effect that this is still at the "taking about it" stage. They note that it will come out under the TOME imprint. Wyrm's Footprints: no reply received, but David Hall reports (_Squawkings_from_Quackford_ #4) that "August" has been mentioned. (Whether that's any August in particular I have no way of knowing.) Has anyone heard of a magazine (fanzine?) called "Pavic Tales"? I've seen the name, but have no idea about its nature. Anyone know if it's Runequest/ Glorantha related? Alex. ====================================================================== From: nrobinso@sirius.UVic.CA (Neil Robinson) Subject: A few questions 1) My copy of RuneQuest Cities is missing pages 49-56. Is this a common occurance? Can someone with an effective copy please send me them (I'll pay shipping). I know this may be considered illegal, but I did buy the darned thing!! 2) Has anyone done work with integrating Call of Cthluthu (sp?) [Cthulhu?] or Stormbringer ideas into RQ? Comments on it?
