[Swordbearer] Characteristics, Fate Points and Experience

Seems like a reasonable approach. Of course, a GM can do things however she wants, as long as the game is kept interesting and fun for the players. Would be amusing to have a party of decrepit, but highly skilled, characters, as they use their wits to make up for any physical limitations. Thanks for the suggestion...  --dennis

A very late reply, but I just had an idea about this:

What about making Fate Points inversely proportional to age? Like, an old person would be really experienced and therefore highly skilled, but a young person just manages to get through life unscathed somehow. Make it a direct tradeoff: (30 - starting XP) = starting Fate Points. Or perhaps (30 - starting XP)/3, for a more restrictive limit.

I remember from making characters that a good roll on XP was critical to having a good character. This would nicely offset that.
