His history is organised mostly via company rather than game system, so there isn't a history of RuneQuest specifically, but if you are interested in the history of RuneQuest you would probably find particularly useful:
http://www.rpg.net/columns/briefhistory/briefhistory3.phtml Part #3, the history of Chaosium 1975-present (where 'present' means 2006, the year of publication)

and

http://www.rpg.net/columns/briefhistory/briefhistory7.phtml Part #7, Interlude: The Chaosium Connections - showing all the various licensses etc including an excellent chart.

and if you are interested in Glorantha in general as well as RQ (the two being obviously somewhat interrelated)

http://www.rpg.net/columns/briefhistory/briefhistory4.phtml Part #4 Issaries Inc. 1998-2006

Shannon has written for RuneQuest, and worked for Chaosium, at various times, and is a long term member of Glorantha fandom etc so he knows his history pretty well, plus he got some input from Greg Stafford etc.

Cheers

David

On 17/04/2013, at 10:32 PM, Peter Maranci <pmaranci@gmail.com> wrote:

That article is badly in need of updating, of course. Perhaps if things had been different I might have tried to write something commercial for the system some day. But as it is, I end up feeling lousy whenever I deal with modern aspects of RQ.
Thanks Lawrence. Yes I saw your name on much of the free modules etc in
Signs & Portents. Actually great news re the new stuff as I have been
slowly aligning my disposable income to pick up RQ6 so waiting a few more
weeks and getting extra will be worthwhile from a posting to the other
side of the world perspective.

What I will do is write up something and post it here. At same time I will
write to Gygax mag and mention the concept and see if they keen. If so and
based on whatever editing is done here - best case it will see publication
and contributors names and exposure for RQ. Worse case it doesn't get
published but we still have a fun excercise.
