Typical needlebinded hat/cap, very common technique, used for socks, gloves and headgear by vikings and germanic tribes: http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/ab271/Stolenbjorn/Mine%20sydde%20saker/tyogsnt007.jpg
The only helmet found in Norway, dated to 900, but is probably a very old helmet put into a 900 grave, because it shows similarities to the eastern slavic/nomadic/germanic Vendel-tribe dominating sweden in the 600s (the same word as the english vandal?) http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:6v2Mxjq0N-JqbM:http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/3760/vik20b.jpg&t=1
Spangen-helmet, strictly speaking not found in the viking-age, but shorltly after in england, and allso found in pictures from viking-age: http://www.jelldragon.com/images/jk_spangen_helmet_side.jpg
Germanic (probably norwegian) shields found in danis sacrificial bog dated 200ad-400 ad: http://illerup.dk/deepweb.php?page=151&language=0

It's interresting to note that in this find, which seems to be the equipment of beaten foes dating from 3 different battles from 200, 300 and 400 ad, thousands of spears and hundreds of swords and shields are found. Some horse-equipment and NO armor or helmets. That should put an end to the overly armouring of the germanics in different roleplaygames....
