Though in one of the sagas, Ragnar Lodbrok is referred to having to
as having coated his heavy leather Breeks (pants) with tar as extra
armor against a Dragon - others put it as just wearing heavy hide
pants to kill some snakes in Sweden. Either way this suggests the
use of heavy leather as leg protection which would not be out of
line with other armor that common soldiers wore.<br>
