<DIV dir=ltr>This is a bit of the top of head and muddled so please edit as
you read.<BR><BR>I cut my teeth on Dragon Warriors and thence Stormbringer
where the resistance roll were both using fixed values. (Magical Attack vs
Magical Defence in DW and Pow v Pow in SB)<BR><BR>I never liked the Magic
Point vs Magic Point in RQ and have neve used it when RUNNING (when playing I
have to wind my neck in and do as GM says of course)<BR><BR>Could one:<BR>Use
Pow vs. Pow but have the option of burning Magic Points to augment Pow for
that contest.<BR><BR><BR>So if I really need to Palsy the Giant I can burn 10
MP to add 50%iles to my chance of success.<BR><BR>And likewise if I really do
not want to have my Spirit Severed (and who does?) burn 10MP to resist the
grinning maniacal Humakti Drake.<BR><BR>Taking a leaf from Shadowrun I could
burn my MPs to add to the resistance chance of all of my chums (maybe only
those within my<I> Luck</I>m of me?) <BR><BR>Taking a further leaf from DW
Physically attacking spells (Disrupt, Lightning, Thunderbolt, et al that Dw
calls indirect-attack spells) the catser makes a DEX vs DEX resistance roll.
With the option of boosting with extra MP to make the attack faster and
harder to dodge. <BR><BR><BR>Al<BR></DIV>
