"To gain an extra 1d6-2 percentiles to a skill, an adventurer must train
for hours equal to his or her current percentage in a skill. An
adventurer has 50 hours per week available for training" (RQ III Deluxe)

It is often the case that characters ask for training whilst not
"adventuring". The following chart provides the time required to acquire
a certain percentage. It assumes a gain of 1% rather than 2% which is
consistent with the research add (see page 41).

Note that the following does not include the fifty hours required for a
skill to go from 0% to 1d6-2 (errata, p278).

The calculations can be made from any point. If Red Mouse has 38% in
Sneak he has the equivalent of 741 training. Spending just over four
weeks being trained with Penliss will increase that to 946, or 43%.
