I've always treated it as a magical flame (otherwise it would be doused
completely in water); it could be diminished by an "Extinguish" or "Freeze"
spells but not by natural cold or water. You could however apply the same
"virtual armor" to the target for being in water that was previously
discussed.

Subject: [Runequest] Fireblade underwater
Hi there,
How do you manage Fireblade spells underwater? I had thought about letting
the player roll the 3D6 damage, but then substracting 2D6 from it due to the
surrounding water. So unlucky rolls make no damage at all (well, only the
damage bonus).
(I'm assuming the Fireblade is cast on a spear or on a broadsword making
impaling attacks only).
And what about that similar Lodril divine spell that transforms the
spear-point into lava (doing +1D6 damage per point of spell) ?
