"underwater" as opposed to having water thrown on the sword, would seem to
be the very definition of massive water runes.since they are in direct
opposition, I don't believe the fireblade would work. Lodril's spell (being
divine and merely HOT) is another matter.

Hi there,

How do you manage Fireblade spells underwater? I had thought about letting
the player roll the 3D6 damage, but then substracting 2D6 from it due to the
surrounding water. So unlucky rolls make no damage at all (well, only the
damage bonus).

(I'm assuming the Fireblade is cast on a spear or on a broadsword making
impaling attacks only).

And what about that similar Lodril divine spell that transforms the
spear-point into lava (doing +1D6 damage per point of spell) ?
