Arguing extremes are we?... note I said the division level of math
became distracting ...you may
equate this with "A little bit too work like,,,"
I think if they have to do it every round of a reasonably common form of
conflict then
you the game designer or game hacker might have to justify why it was
necessary
NOTE .. Doing even more complex math becomes viable if you can do it
each time a character
achieves advancement in skill or similar infrequency.

I minored in physics and yearn to use sqrt to calculate movement speeds
relative to weight carried
and jump distances that relate to leg press weights and leg length and
similar things so
I may be bad at presenting the argument...
There was what I would call a horrific discussion against using
subtraction in FATE a few months
ago... yes it freaked me out. How could anyone argue that subtraction
was harder than addition.
in any significant fashion!!!!

Some like the idea that their descriptions had an impact in the form of
modifiers
and could easily bring RuneQuests percentile mechanics into their heads
without
it ever distracting from the action and still not care one hill of beans
if it was 3
percentiles or 7 percentiles that higher ground added to their chances
it ends up
something the GM deals with.
