So for a short period I'm going to run Godsend Agenda for a few, and I swear only a few, sessions. The following serves as a summary. Note that this is 1st edition Godsend Agenda - not the second edition which used the D6 System. # Starting Scenario In 1293, Marco Polo made his way back home after spending 17 years in the court of Kublai Khan. Laden with treasure a virtual fleet of 604 individuals on 14 Junks will take the journey home. PCs can be either part of Marco Polo's original group from the Empire of Romania (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_Empire) or from the court of the Khan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kublai_Khan). # Basic Mechanics Godsend Agenda is based around a 2d6 roll plus Attribute plus Skill with a roll-over target Difficulty 10 or more by default with the usual range of modifiers (from -3 to +30), or in the case of an opposed test, the opponent's roll. Power damage is expressed as number of d6s multiplied by the level of the power (e.g., a level three Energy Blast does 3d6 damage). Always round fractions down. # Character Creation It's a point-buy system. Average PC has 100 points and up 50 points of negative Flaws. Think of a GURPS calculation. Every character has an Archetype. They give a ten bonus to skills and advantages. and determines how quickly you regain your Ka, or inner power. Example Archetypes include: the Adventurer, the Bravo, the Comedian, the Dark Avenger, the Icon, the Outsider, the Protector, the Rogue the Scientist, the Warrior. etc. Just think "character class" in D&D terms are you're fine. ## Attributes Every character has five attributes which are self-explanatory; Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Spirit, and Influence. Attributes cost character points on an increasing scale: a score of 6 costs 7 points, 10 costs 15, 15 costs 35, 20 costs 64 etc.Calculated characteristics include Mind and Body points, representing stamina in the two fields. ## Skills, Advantages and Flaws Skills cost 1 point per level up to the linked Attribute then 3 points after that. It's a pretty short list. Acrobatics, Artistry, Brawl, Climbing, Combat Flying, Computer Operation, Dodge, Driving, Electronics, Engineering, Escape Artist, Fast Talk, First Aid, Gadgetry, Interrogation, Intimidation, Investigation, Jumping, Knowledges, Leadership, Move Silently, Piloting, Ranged Weapon/Powers, Repair, Running, Search, Security Systems, Seduction, Sleight, Swimming, Tracking. There's a short collection of Advantages and Flaws which are pretty much as expected. # Powers Superheroes get Powers! They are rated per level and have a linked Attributed. For example Acid is linked to Strength and costs 5 points per level. It use these the Ranged Weapon (Acid) to hit and does 1d6 damage with a range of 5 feet per level, with a 5 foot splatter radius around the target. By contrast Invisibility cloaks the hero, requiring an Intelligence check with a penalty at double the level in the Power. etc Gadgets are built, a bit like characters (think Hero System). For example, a vehicle can carry a number of people equal to its Strength. A vehicles also costs 25% of the total value because it is not held by the character and can be stolen (think Hero system again, "Obvious Accessible Focus"). # Combat Combat rounds are 5 seconds long. Base Initiative is based on Intelligence plus Dexterity. Initiative is 2d6+Base. Initiative stays the same for the entire combat. Heroes get 3 Action Points a turn, normal people get 2. Basic maneuvers cost 1 Action Point. They include: Move (Dexterity times five in feet), Attack, Dodge, Parry, Aim, Ready, Reload, Stand from Prone. Special maneuvers include Aiming (1-4 AP), Attack Multiple Opponents (+1 AP per opponent), Burst Fire (1 AP), Charge (2 AP), Desperation Attack (1 AP), Disarm Attack (1 PO), Coordinated Attack (1 AP), Feint Attack (2 AP), Focussed Attack (3 AP), Grapple (1 AP), Squeeze or Choke (1 AP), Take Bullet (1 AP), Use Two Weapons (1 AP), Throw (1 AP) As expected there is a bunch of situational combat modifiers. A successful attack does damage, absorbed by armour. I'm ignoring the rule that says that a minimum damage of 1 is required (I don't think peasants with sticks are any threat to Plate Armoured Knight). Damage is applied against Body Points or Mind Points as appropriate. Unconscious at 0 points, death at negative value. -- Lev Lafayette, BA (Hons), GradCertTerAdEd (Murdoch), GradCertPM, MBA (Tech Mngmnt) (Chifley) mobile: 0432 255 208 RFC 1855 Netiquette Guidelines http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1855.txt http://www.quicksales.com.au/shop/RPG-Review.aspx From andrewdaborn at hotmail.com Tue Jun 14 13:22:59 2016 From: andrewdaborn at hotmail.com (andrewdaborn) Date: Tue, 14 Jun 2016 23:22:59 +1000 Subject: [Nyarlathotep] This Thursday: Godsend Agenda Message-ID: Marvellous!
