Hey all.
Looking forward to game with you guys again. I hope Jabari's last minute change of personality at the campaign's climax doesn't ruin the sense of horror.
Cheers
Adi

Hi Adi,

The following is some background notes from the previous session.

In a nutshell, the Investigators unearthed (for the second time, no less),

a plot involving the Nyarlathotep, the avatar the Outer Gods. Starting

from a murder in New York, the Investigators followed the cult to London,

then to Egypt, to Kenya, then to China, and now to Australia. At each

juncture they learned of different cults accumulating items and engaging

in rituals to open up a gate that would spread across the Indian ocean,

linking Shanghai, Nairobi, and now the Pilbra regions.

At Shanghai and Nairobi they have managed to prevent the cults from

opening the gates and have also warded the gates from being used again (at

least for the time being). But in Australia, the party has had a very hard

time of it, as the following will illustrate...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The chapter started as the Investigators engaged in a mighty battle at a

campsite with a group of Koori cultists armed with firearms. Jack Brady

and Jabari made a remarkable and brave attack by engaging them

hand-to-hand, whilst Eva and Stephan preferred a long-range exchange of

lead. Eventually the cultists were defeated and the Investigators located

an entrance to a passageway below the sands, illuminated by a thin strand

of lights. Choosing to rest for a while, they were beset by a great

whirlwind, which proved to be one of the great elder race of yore, a

Flying Polyp.

"[The flying polyps were a] horrible elder race of half polypous, utterly

alien entities... They were only partly material and had the power of

aerial motion, despite the absence of wings... [They exhibited] a

monstrous plasticity and ... temporary lapses of visibility... [S]ingular

whistling noises and colossal footprints made up of five circular toe

marks seemed also to be associated with them."

Inside there were even more cultists is dirty lodgings. Whilst the

Investigators did defeat a significant number of these, it was not without

loss; both Eva and Jabari were sufficiently wounded that they had to be

'stored' in one of these chambers. A couple of cultists also seemed to

carry extraordinary weapons that fired bolts of electricity for a short

range. What manner of alien technology was this?

As the party of two continued down the passageways beneath the Great Sandy

Desert, far from civilization, half-dead and half-mad, the last chance of

humanity against monsters of which few placid people on earth even knew

existed, they encountered a tall, emaciated being, so thin that it became

invisible when turned sideways. It beckoned the pair through a slit in the

rocks and offered to help them, if they helped defeat not only the flying

polyp that was outside, but four others.

As the remaining party wondered what they could possibly do under such

circumstances, a different problem arose for Jabari and Eva, who awoke in

a room of cages of which the were interred along with many other,

primarily Koori people. They were obviously long suffering and weak,

moaning piteously of their condition. One cage held only pregnant women...

Tomorrow night we discover whether the Investigators will someone overcome

these horrific odds and defeat the cult and discover the meaning of this

great old city.
