Hi all,
I have looked over the existing weapon skills and had a first pass at
grouping them.
Very long (V): pike.
Weapons longer than the character's height
Single Handed Melee (S): ankus, bludgeon, cutlass/infantry hanger, dirk,
hunting hanger, katanna, mace, rapier, Scottish broadsword, smallsword,
wakazashi, kard.
Weapons used one handed and under the character's height in length
Brawling (B): Katar
Unarmed attacks and weapons that enhance the damage of actions normally
performed unarmed. Other non-18th century examples would be steel capped
shoes or brass knuckles.
Bow (W): bow, composite bow.
Errr. you know, bows.
Crossbow (X): stonebow
Um, crossbows.
Longarms: carbine, musket, sporting gun
Firearms over 1/3 of the character's height in length, used two handed
Double handed melee (D): executioner's sword, greatsword
weapons used with both hands and under the characters hieght in length
Pistol (P): horse pistol, pocket pistol
Cannon (C): cannons, swivel guns
Thrown (T):
Grenade (G): grenade, hand mortar
Siege Engine (E): pre-gunpowder siege engines
Anyway, should the single handed melee be spilt up? Consider ankus,
mace, dirk and hanger these do seem rather different. The category also
covers much more ground than the others.
Perhaps break up the melee groups into 1h swing, 1h thrust, 2h swing, 2h
thrust etc.
