From cas at taz.net.au Sat Oct 29 08:16:29 2016 From: cas at taz.net.au (Craig Sanders) Date: Sat, 29 Oct 2016 19:16:29 +1100 Subject: [Churchofgaming] Looking for a game, Inner North Message-ID: <20161029081629.bvwesiph5w2ozfxt@taz.net.au> I'm looking for a regular (weekly or fortnightly) game, within ~5Km of Coburg. short, medium, or long term campaign, or episodic. all are good. Online is fine too, but not if it require? proprietary spyware like skype or voice chat via servers hundreds of milliseconds away in the US. I'm not fussy about the RPG system, but there are some games that I really like, fondly remembered from aeons ago when I used to play a lot. I'd love to play Runequest or Stormbringer again (or any Chaosium game). or Rolemaster. My personal favourite is HARP (IMO, it's the distilled essence of RM, not an RM-lite like the old MERP), but AFAIK no-?ne plays it. I like CoC but prefer combat to have some chance of success or even survival (is Delta Green or Laundry more survivable?) - as I remember it, the single most important skill in CoC is "Run Away! Run Away!". I've got a strong preference for skill-based rather than level-based systems (or at least, where skill rank is far more important than level). If character advancement comes from actually using skills and/or point-buy, I'll probably like it. D&D 5E isn't particularly skill-based but that's fine too, I'm playing in one 5E game (approx. monthly) at the moment and quite like it. I'd be happy to play 3.5 or pathfinder too. craig -- craig sanders
