Dogs aren't on the equipment list I'm using. However, I've found an unofficial class; the Beastmaster. This class represents wilderness-y type characters who have pets / animal companions / familiars. You can find it at http://www.swordsandwizardry.com/wbbeastmaster.pdf Anyone interested? If not, please send your ideas. Thanks, James. Other choices might be things like resistance to poison, resistance to the special attacks of the undead, being better at sneaking around etc. Magic-Users can give up a spell-slot in return for a familiar. > -------Original Message------- > From: Lev Lafayette > To: james , Church of Gaming > Subject: Re: [Churchofgaming] [OD&D] dogs! > Sent: 04 Nov '10 09:54 > > On Wed, 2010-11-03 at 14:17 +0000, james wrote: > > A couple of people asked about their character getting a dog. We have an archive (alas, not a summary of game sessions) here: http://mimesisrpg.com/mailman/listinfo/krononauts_mimesisrpg.com The last story, combined a visit to members of the the mid-nineteenth century U.S. literary circle (Edgar Allan Poe, Washington Irving, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow) whilst chasing the antagonist, a time-traveller who had been "left behind" from a previous visit to the pre-revolutionary days of France and had, over time, created a sort of cryogenic tomb to live in along with a remote controlled house. It combined elements of Rip van Winkle and The Facts in The Case of M. Valdemar, leading to the antagonist to be seemingly be trapped in a closed time loop (like Twelve Monkeys), but also becoming a discorporate consciousness (and becoming part of the group's AI patron) thus avoiding temporal radiation poisoning. There was also a word-for-word encounter with Edgar Allan Poe by a sapient crow who, at the critical moment exclaimed "Bugger me! I'm nicked!", rather than "Nevermore!".
