From lev at rpgreview.net Sat Jun 13 11:11:33 2015 From: lev at rpgreview.net (Lev Lafayette) Date: Sat, 13 Jun 2015 22:11:33 +1100 Subject: [7thseafreiburg] Session 11: KeyQuest Summary Message-ID: Having convinced an acolyte for a tour of the catacombs beneath the Heart of the Drachen Cathedral the party prepares itself for this unassisted tour in the early hours of the morning; with the exception of the good Lady who hides herself away in a stairwell. With the acolyte's warning the party first saw shadows of the ghost, and then directly as its very corperal wounds slashed Aldritch who sought a trinket (later it was discovered that it would be enticing item for a lady friend). Doctor Serijo looked after the fallen as they continued to the sought-after crypt. As they attempted to take the trove which contained the key, the spectral agent hissed that they must leave all items behind. Axel considered arguing the points of ownership with the ghost, but thought better of it, and the spirit once again made its presence known. It was Lord Bryon who realised that the spectre seemed to recall at light, and aimed the lantern whenever it made itself apparent. Eventually the ghost was forced to slink back into the shadows, without the party returning the goods that it desired. In the meanwhile, Lady Drachenheim had led the acolyte on a merry chase throughout the cathedral. Finally reaching the outside, the party was confronted with a group of flying kobolds that inhabited the cathedral steeple. These proved to be difficult foes, pushing the party to its limits, but not for the first time the great soldier, Officer Axel Maximillian. The inebriated acolyte finally caught up with wild-eyed tales of ghosts and goblins within the Cathedral, which he had seen with his own eyes. Viewing the wounded and dead kobolds around him, he arranged for some questionable characters to give the party a lift in a cart back to Aldritch's home. Now with both keys, consideration is given to opening the dracheneisen door of two keys with its logo of the fox leaping over the sleeping hound. Session 12 is tomorrow; with wounds healed etc, it will Quartus, Amordi 25, 1688. -- Lev Lafayette, BA (Hons), GradCertTerAdEd (Murdoch), GradCertPM, MBA (Tech Mngmnt) (Chifley) mobile: 0432 255 208 RFC 1855 Netiquette Guidelines http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1855.txt http://www.quicksales.com.au/shop/RPG-Review.aspx From lev at rpgreview.net Sat Jun 27 12:17:55 2015 From: lev at rpgreview.net (Lev Lafayette) Date: Sat, 27 Jun 2015 23:17:55 +1100 Subject: [7thseafreiburg] Of Wedding Strange and Dungeons Deep Message-ID: <1baf1ca8655e05d3e623a3396b68b07a.squirrel@webmail.rpgreview.net> Next session (session 13) tomorrow at the usual place and time. Previous session summary as follows: It will Quartus, Amordi 25, 1688, with but three days before the wedding of Redmund Erhart and his relatvely unknown wife, Teresa Fazetti. Lady Drachenheim sent a message to the young woman, suggesting that they should meet for a promenade around town; the short reply suggested perhaps after the wedding. The Lady Drachenheim also began tithing the Vattacine Church for orphanage development. With a few days spare, and the keys found, the members of the Improvement Agency decided to venture into their damaged cellar. It was not a great start to the journey; the two keys were placed in the incorrect order and a puff of dust blew right into the Lady's face, causing here to collapse on the spot. Fortunately Dr. Serijo was able to ascertain that the deadly poison had faded in potency over the many years, and the Lady should recover in mere days. Just in time for the wedding! And what an event it was... Hundreds of people from throughout Eisen, albeit the absence of any from the brides family was noted. The service, conducted in the Freiburg Cathedral, a Vattacine church, was carried out by G?rard du Paix, an Objectionist Reverand! And if the bride was Vattacine, this would require approval from the bishop of "Dispensation from Canonical Form". Also Lady Drachenheim was a little taken aback to see that Aulf was present, in finery, among Erhart's family and friends. But an even greater shock was received when the bridge revealed her veil, showing a visage that was exactly the same as the dying woman from several week's prior! She must be the sister of her final words! Getting the vial to her must wait, and much planning needs to be done. It was to the cellar again, and this time, following the icons of the keys in opening the doors. From there, into the corridors and past the engraving of the dog, "near the sleeping guard hug the wall", and avoid the pit trap. After that it was into a wet cave system that Dr. Serijo saw resembled the heart, "walk the path of blood", and avoid the drowning effects as latches to the river would have opened. Then it was to stand on "the shoulders of giants", the names of the Drachenheim ancestors engraved into the ground to avoid the crossbow darts. Finally, the timing after "the leaping Stapp", as gears clicked and there was the distant sound of a watermill starting up, and a great blade cutting across the corridor. Finally, to the locked door, but with two keys and ten keyholes? "On the day the sun stopped shining on me"; two and five. All these traps were passed, and the party made it unscathed into the final chamber. There, in the middle of the chamber, was a chest as announced. But the light glittered over the silvery surface of the cave. Officer Alex Maxmillian recognised it right away; dracheneisen. At least as much as what existed in the entire world. This was the motherlode of it all. Lady Drachenheim volunteered to enter the chamber, the rest of the party covering her as they could. She took to the centre, and gingerly opened the chest. After so many traps it was a relief to discover it was not trapped. Inside, it contained the treasures promised. But as she wondered at the marvels within and what surrounded her, a roar emanated. She whirled around to see herself staring at a silver-grey giant lizard. Offizier Alex Maxmillian, Lord George Bryon, and Aldrich von Bertholt confronted the great beast. Many blows were felled upon it, but its capacity to absorb damage seemed overwhelming. Lady Drachenheim fired two pistols, Offizer Maxmillian, and Bryon fought with great valour, all taking wounds. Aldrich von Bertholt also fought, but was struck down by the beast and Dr. Serijo intervened, dragging the unconscious body away but the beast persisted* and bit Aldrich in twain. So expended the life-force of the popular and charming Aldrich von Bertholt, whose local reputation will bring sadness, and perhaps even a significant loss of income to some local women of negotiatable affection. The situation appeared most dire, but in a flash of inspiration, Lady Drachenheim did taunt the drachen to chase her. Intervening at the entrance of the chamber, Offizer Maxmillian displayed great loyalty preventing the beast from giving chase. No less than five times it did strike him, and though he reeled greatly from the wounds, he did not fall. Eventually however it pushed past him and gave chase against Lady Drachenheim, even passing Dr. Serijo on the way. This would prove to be its downfall, as the beast did not know of the many traps that the party had carefully bypassed. It was struck by the mighty pendulum blade, it suffered poisoned darts on the ancestor's tiles, it became confused at the heart chamber (although it almost caught the lady, if it were not for Lord Bryon's timely intervention), and at the sleeping guard, it fell into the pit and impaled itself on the spikes below. There it was slain. One can only wonder what chaos it could have caused if it had escaped into the streets of Freiburg. It is indeed a bittersweet victory. Whilst the party has accumulated sufficient wealth from the Drachenheim treasures to pay for a new home (six times over if need be), they have the sadness of having to explain to Aldrich von Bertholt's family was has happened. They have discovered the most extraordinary collection of dracheneisen ever known, something that could make them all princes by right, if only there was a united Eisen and an Imperator to legitimise their claim. They have seen and defeated a drachen, albeit a small one, the first seen in over two hundred years, but who can they possibly tell? Indeed, after such an experience many members of the party are thinking it is time to make a will in case another misfortune like this befalls them. * A very unluck die roll; a 1/10 chance it was going to take that course of action. -- Lev Lafayette, BA (Hons), GradCertTerAdEd (Murdoch), GradCertPM, MBA (Tech Mngmnt) (Chifley) mobile: 0432 255 208 RFC 1855 Netiquette Guidelines http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1855.txt http://www.quicksales.com.au/shop/RPG-Review.aspx From andrew.ward1 at live.com.au Sun Jun 28 14:02:29 2015 From: andrew.ward1 at live.com.au (andrew ward) Date: Mon, 29 Jun 2015 00:32:29 +1030 Subject: [7thseafreiburg] 13th Session: Of deadly drachen and devious devices In-Reply-To: <93f50aaa05356505c9594e111f4482c2.squirrel@webmail.rpgreview.net> References: <93f50aaa05356505c9594e111f4482c2.squirrel@webmail.rpgreview.net> Message-ID: Sad to hear but when fighting a Dragon these things happen. Being hit by a car is worse than being mauled by a drachen (even if a small one). Mind you Axel was hit *five* times, and still managed to stay on his feet (albeit very wobbly). Who would you like as your next character? A member of the same household? One of Aldritch's other family members? Perhaps one of his lady friends?
